Этот американский танк, названный в честь кавалерийского генерала южан, принял боевое крещение в британской армии, в составе 8-го гусарского полка (Kings Royal Irish Hussar), воевавшего в Северной Африке. МЗ/М5 General Stuart стал самым массовым легким танком Второй Мировой – в общей сложности было произведено около 23 тысяч «стюартов», из которых 1232 поставлены по Лендлизу в СССР.
