В книге представлен один из шедевров западноевропейской литературы средних веков – Тристан и Изольда. В основе сюжета – трагическая любовь Изольды, жены корнуоллского короля, к племяннику её мужа Тристану. Эту легенду не раз перелагали французские поэты. Здесь представлен перевод на современный французский язык, выполненный в начале прошлого века известным филологом Жозефом Бедье и считающийся едва ли не самым удачным. Текст снабжён комментариями, в которых поясняются некоторые лексические и грамматические сложности. В конце книги помещён небольшой французско-русский словарь.
