That subject, as such, has received the most attention in this collection. <br><br>Some advice I received within the past couple years from Jean was about honesty, to be honest, always, in one&#39;s poetry. And to ask oneself, &quot;does it read as honest?&quot; I think that is a theme I&#39;ve found in the poetry of Jean Jones. Sometimes you will read about his raw emotions and at other times you experience his feelings along with his observations about the world, life, death, God, faith, good and evil. Some poems draw upon some rather deep literary sources of inspiration. Other poems draw upon the every day experiences. I think all readers will find that his poems vary in complexity and thus defy simple characterization. I&#39;m not aware of too many poets that similarly have such varied style in their writing.

The story begins by describing the ancestors of Sir Arthur Jermyn, a British nobleman. His great-great-great-grandfather, Sir Wade Jermyn, had been an early explorer of the Congo region, whose books on a mysterious white civilization there had been ridiculed. He had been confined to an asylum in 1765. Lovecraft describes how the Jermyn family has a peculiar physical appearance that began to appear in the children of Wade Jermyn and his mysterious and reclusive wife, who Wade claimed was Portuguese.

The story begins with the woman feeling outside of society and then Hermes appears and tells her that she has, though her reading of poetry learned something that only a few others have, that the gods are not dead but only asleep. They meet a series of the different gods and then artists from the past but it is time for a new poet to arrive and become a great messenger for the gods. The woman will not be that poet though but she will know it.
