В центре внимания – формы и каналы трансформации межрасовых и межэтнических отношений и типы этнополитического сознания в странах Тропической Африки (на материале ЮАР, Эфиопии, Руанды, Бурунди и др.), а также в африканских общинах за ее пределами (СССР/Россия, США, Великобритания) в колониальную и постколониальную эпохи. Различные аспекты проблемы рассматриваются в широком контексте противостояния и взаимодействия традиционных, псевдотрадиционных и современных форм сознания и поведения.
