Minos, the third work in the Corey Logan Trilogy, derives from the mythical king of Crete who every lunar year condemns seven Athenian youths and seven maidens to be eaten by the ferocious Minotaur. Minos begins at the Olympic Academy, where Billy's friend Sara has just carved a magic circle in the hardwood bathroom floor with an ancient double-edged dagger. She twirls inside her circle calling on the Oracle of Apollo to help her find a modern-day Theseus, the reincarnation of Athens' “hero of all heroes” who slew the Minotaur. Lost in her magical dance, she knocks over a candle, sets fire to the curtains, and is suspended from school. She is sent to Abe for treatment. Abe discovers that Sara has patched together an entire mythological universe and language with which she tries to make him see that lives are at stake. It is not easy to convince the authorities. But Corey knows that young people are indeed being murdered, and soon Sara's dire warnings begin to make sense. But who is the modern-day descendant of Minos? The key is inside Sara's head.

Сборник иллюстрирован культовой кубинской художницей Karina Alonso Angel (KARANG). Также в него включены концептуальные работы современных художников-авангардистов, созданные для выставки на «Острове Свободы», в галерее Союза Писателей и Деятелей искусств Кубы, город Матансас (куратор – Дарья Русакова). Desarrolla la corriente llamada «rendimiento poetico». «Caminos» es una pieza de arte unica, en la que la palabra y la pintura van de la mano, por un mismo camino. Este experimento poetico bilingue combina dos culturas: las tradiciones de la «Edad de Plata» en una nueva interpretacion y los antiguos cultos afrocaribenos; los caminos intransitables de Rusia y los laberinto de las calles de La Habana; un profundo lirismo y una pasion primordial. El libro fue ilustrado por la iconica artista cubana Karina Alonso Angel (KARANG). Ademas, este incluye obras conceptuales de pintores de vanguardia contemporaneos, creadas para la exposicion en la «Isla de la Libertad», en la galeria de la Union de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba en la ciudad de Matanzas (curadora – Daria Rusakova).

Iminosugars form undoubtedly the most attractive of carbohydrate mimics reported so far. In these structures, the substitution of the endocyclic oxygen of sugars by a basic nitrogen atom leads to remarkable biological properties and raises many challenges in organic synthesis. Since the discovery of their biological activity as glycosidase inhibitors in the 1970’s, these polyvalent molecules have progressively made their way from the laboratory to the clinic. The impressive series of discoveries in the field over the past ten years indicates clearly that it is “a boom time” for iminosugar chemistry and biology. The scope of their profile as inhibitors has been extended to a number of enzymes such as phosphorylases, glycosyltransferases or metalloproteinases, and iminosugars now constitute lead compounds for the development of new therapeutic agents for a wide range of diseases including diabetes, viral infections, lysosomal storage disorders and tumor metastasis. Latest developments, from iminosugar synthesis to their use in clinical studies, are presented in this book, which contains contributions from over fifteen of the major chemists, biochemists and drug developers in this rapidly expanding field. An extensive table correlating the structures of more than 600 iminosugars of therapeutic interest with their biological activities is also included in the book and should prove particularly useful to aid with the design and the discovery of novel bioactive substances.
