Автор исследует становление и преобразование классической национальной стиховой культуры, основы которой заложил Ломоносов, а наивысшая точка развития была достигнута Пушкиным. Наряду с именитыми поэтами XVIII—XX вв. (от Тредиаковского, Ломоносова и Сумарокова до Д. А. Пригова, Л. Рубинштейна и Т. Кибирова) привлекаются произведения малоизвестных и вовсе не известных стихотворцев. Монография состоит из двух книг. В первую из них входят исследования по теории стихосложения и по истории русского стиха XVIII—XIX вв.

Вторую книгу монографии М. И.
