Er galt als der deutsche Lester Bangs, legte sich nicht nur mit Heinz-Rudolf Kunze an, verehrte Buddy Holly und schrieb sich verruckt. Wolfgang Welt war ein Kind des Ruhrgebietes, genauer gesagt des Bochumer Arbeiter-Stadtteils Langendreer. Ab Anfang der Achtziger Jahre schrieb er unverschamt subjektive Plattenkritiken in diversen Stadt- und Musikmagazinen, beschrieb ungeschminkt die Lebenswirklichkeit im Pott, setzte sich mit Literatur und Politik auseinander und verfasste insgesamt vier radikal autobiographische Romane, in denen er weder sich selbst noch andere schonte. Peter Handke gehort ebenso zu seinen Fans wie der Bochumer Schriftsteller Frank Goosen, der einige der besten Texte von Wolfgang Welt fur dieses Horbuch eingelesen hat.
