Скачать книгу - Targeting Immigrants

This book is concerned with the government of “illegal” immigration since the passage of the U.S. Immigration Act of 1965, exploring how certain mentalities and intellectual machineries have rendered illegal immigrants as targets of government. Examines how various authorities have created knowledge about and constructed “illegal” immigration as an ethical problem. Analyzes the tactics that have been deployed to govern immigration, particularly at the US-Mexico border. Using an ethnographic approach, draws on primary source materials – including government publications, archival documents, newspapers, and popular magazines. Studies measures (e.g. Operation Gatekeeper and Operation Hold-the-Line) for reforming the conduct of “illegal” immigrants in order to forestall illicit border crossings. Frames the study of immigration within Foucauldian theories of governmentality. Highlights the role of numbers and statistics in constructing the “illegal” immigrant.

The Retargeting Playbook. How to Turn Web-Window Shoppers into Customers The Retargeting Playbook. How to Turn Web-Window Shoppers into Customers

Автор: Lauren Vaccarello

Год издания:

How to reach the 98 percent of people who leave your website without converting sales The Retargeting Playbook is a complete guide for digital marketers about how to reach the 95 to 98 percent of people who leave a brand's website without converting. Retargeting gives advertisers the ability to stay in front of those people to bring them back and close the deal. For that reason, retargeting has emerged as a must have marketing channel, yet there is a lack of content that explains how the technology actually works and best practices for using it. Even marketing managers at large, sophisticated brands and agencies don’t have a strong grasp of this evolving channel, and there are few good neutral sources on the topic. Meanwhile, retargeting is the cornerstone of any holistic digital advertising strategy since it improves the results of every other channel if implemented correctly. Unfortunately, most marketers are only utilizing the most rudimentary retargeting tactics and barely scratch the surface of its potential. Explains how to stay in front of potential customers and convince them to come back and close the deal This book will be required reading for media buyers at digital agencies, in-house marketing managers at companies in any vertical, performance marketers, and ecommerce managers.

Chemical Biology. Approaches to Drug Discovery and Development to Targeting Disease Chemical Biology. Approaches to Drug Discovery and Development to Targeting Disease

Автор: Natanya Civjan

Год издания:

An authoritative look at the application of chemical biology in drug discovery and development Based on the award-winning Wiley Encyclopedia of Chemical Biology published in 2008, this book explores the role of chemical biology in drug discovery and development. The first part of the book reviews key principles and techniques used in the design and evaluation of drug candidates. The second part elucidates biological mechanisms of certain diseases, illuminating approaches to investigate and target these diseases. Comprising carefully selected reprints from the Encyclopedia as well as new contributions from leading scholars in the field, this book provides researchers in academia and industry with important information to aid in the development of novel agents to treat disease. Self-contained articles cover a variety of essential topics, including: The design, development, and optimization of drug candidates The pharmacokinetics and properties of drugs Drug transport and delivery Natural products and natural product models as pharmaceuticals Biological mechanisms underlying health and disease Treatment strategies for a range of diseases, from HIV to schizophrenia Chemical Biology is a top-notch guide and reference for anyone working in the areas of drug discovery and development, including researchers in chemical biology and other fields such as biochemistry, medicine, and pharmaceutical sciences.

Constraint Networks. Targeting Simplicity for Techniques and Algorithms Constraint Networks. Targeting Simplicity for Techniques and Algorithms

Автор: Christophe Lecoutre

Год издания:

A major challenge in constraint programming is to develop efficient generic approaches to solve instances of the constraint satisfaction problem (CSP). With this aim in mind, this book provides an accessible synthesis of the author's research and work in this area, divided into four main topics: representation, inference, search, and learning. The results obtained and reproduced in this book have a wide applicability, regardless of the nature of the problem or the constraints involved, making it an extremely user-friendly resource for those involved in this field.

Vanilloid Receptor TRPV1 in Drug Discovery. Targeting Pain and Other Pathological Disorders Vanilloid Receptor TRPV1 in Drug Discovery. Targeting Pain and Other Pathological Disorders

Автор: Gomtsyan Arthur

Год издания:

Examines the emerging therapeutic role of TRPV1 TRPV1 is considered an integrator of noxious stimuli and therefore may be at a crossroads for pain transmission pathways. Because of its potential for managing multiple pain types, including osteoarthritis, chronic low back pain, neuropathic pain, and cancer pain, some consider it «the holy grail» of pain management. This dedicated reference summarizes available data related to the potential therapeutic utility for TRPV1 ligands. With contributions from many of the world's leading experts on TRP channels, Vanilloid Receptor TRPV1 in Drug Discovery covers the important TRPV1 target for drugs to treat painful conditions such as inflammation, arthritis, and cancer pain. The book discusses: Recent advances in biology, chemistry, and pharmacology at both the preclinical and clinical stage of the dynamic area of TRPV1 drug discovery research The potential for drugs targeting TRPV1 in painful conditions such as inflammation, arthritis, and cancer The development of analgesic drugs Other applications for TRPV1, including the treatment of respiratory disease and diabetes Featuring data relevant to the therapeutic potential of TRPV1 and the medicinal chemistry involved in designing TRPV1 antagonists, Vanilloid Receptor TRPV1 in Drug Discovery is a key tool for researchers in the pharmaceutical industry and academia involved in pain, ion channels, and analgesic drug development.
