Скачать книгу - Negative-Refraction Metamaterials

Learn about the revolutionary new technology of negative-refraction metamaterials Negative-Refraction Metamaterials: Fundamental Principles and Applications introduces artificial materials that support the unusual electromagnetic property of negative refraction. Readers will discover several classes of negative-refraction materials along with their exciting, groundbreaking applications, such as lenses and antennas, imaging with super-resolution, microwave devices, dispersion-compensating interconnects, radar, and defense. The book begins with a chapter describing the fundamentals of isotropic metamaterials in which a negative index of refraction is defined. In the following chapters, the text builds on the fundamentals by describing a range of useful microwave devices and antennas. Next, a broad spectrum of exciting new research and emerging applications is examined, including: * Theory and experiments behind a super-resolving, negative-refractive-index transmission-line lens * 3-D transmission-line metamaterials with a negative refractive index * Numerical simulation studies of negative refraction of Gaussian beams and associated focusing phenomena * Unique advantages and theory of shaped lenses made of negative-refractive-index metamaterials * A new type of transmission-line metamaterial that is anisotropic and supports the formation of sharp steerable beams (resonance cones) * Implementations of negative-refraction metamaterials at optical frequencies * Unusual propagation phenomena in metallic waveguides partially filled with negative-refractive-index metamaterials * Metamaterials in which the refractive index and the underlying group velocity are both negative This work brings together the best minds in this cutting-edge field. It is fascinating reading for scientists, engineers, and graduate-level students in physics, chemistry, materials science, photonics, and electrical engineering.

Metamaterials and Wave Control Metamaterials and Wave Control

Автор: Eric Lheurette

Год издания:

Since the concept was first proposed at the end of the 20th Century, metamaterials have been the subject of much research and discussion throughout the wave community. More than 10 years later, the number of related published articles is increasing significantly. On the one hand, this success can be attributed to dreams of new physical objects which are the consequences of the singular properties of metamaterials. Among them, we can consider the examples of perfect lensing and invisibility cloaking. On other hand, metamaterials also provide new tools for the design of well-known wave functions such as antennas for electromagnetic waves. The goal of this book is to propose an overview of the concept of metamaterials as a perspective on a new practical tool for wave study and engineering. This includes both the electromagnetic spectrum, from microwave to optics, and the field of acoustic waves. Contents 1. Overview of Microwave and Optical Metamaterial Technologies, Didier Lippens. 2. MetaLines: Transmission Line Approach for the Design of Metamaterial Devices, Bruno Sauviac. 3. Metamaterials for Non-Radiative Microwave Functions and Antennas, Divitha Seetharamdoo and Bruno Sauviac. 4. Toward New Prospects for Electromagnetic Compatibility, Divitha Seetharamdoo. 5. Dissipative Loss in Resonant Metamaterials, Philippe Tassin, Thomas Koschny, and Costas M. Soukoulis. 6. Transformation Optics and Antennas, Andre de Lustrac, Shah Nawaz Burokur and Paul-Henri Tichit. 7. Metamaterials for Control of Surface Electromagnetic and Liquid Waves, Sebastien Guenneau, Mohamed Farhat, Muamer Kadic, Stefan Enoch and Romain Quidant. 8. Classical Analog of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency, Philippe Tassin, Thomas Koschny and Costas M. Soukoulis.

Positive and Negative Outcomes of Sexual Behaviors. New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development, Number 144 Positive and Negative Outcomes of Sexual Behaviors. New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development, Number 144

Автор: Vasilenko Sara A.

Год издания:

Developing healthy sexual behaviors is critical to adolescents’ wellbeing. While more emphasis has been on negative outcomes, there are broad positive implications for physical health, mental health, intimate relationships, and identity development. To fully understand the impact, we need to understand both. In addition, the impact of sexual behavior is not universal, but may differ based on individuals’ demographic, relational, contextual, and attitudinal factors. This volume provides a framework for understanding the complex role of sexual behavior in adolescents’ lives, with a specific focus on the roles of sexual minority status, internet-based sexual experiences, relationship context, and sexual learning through formal and informal sex education in determining the outcomes of sexual behavior. It provides: A nuanced, multidimensional understanding of the role of sexual behavior in shaping adolescents’ development and well-being Important directions for future research Recommendations for sexuality education, prevention, and intervention programs. This is the 144th volume in this Jossey-Bass series New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development. Its mission is to provide scientific and scholarly presentations on cutting edge issues and concepts in this subject area. Each volume focuses on a specific new direction or research topic and is edited by experts from that field.

Breaking Negative Relationship Patterns Breaking Negative Relationship Patterns

Автор: Bruce A. Stevens

Год издания:

Schema Therapy (ST) was developed to treat patients with complex disorders, especially personality disorders, with a powerful new set of interventions. Personality disorders, as well as more general problems stemming from early experience and addressed by schema therapy, are a key factor in many disturbed relationships, and as a result ST is now increasingly used for couples work. By dealing effectively with the past, ST offers a unique way to approach and address present difficulties in relationships, Couples who understand their individual patterns of thinking and behavior tend to find that their relationships make much more sense. Breaking Negative Relationship Patterns is a readable, practical resource containing a wealth of self-help exercises that schema therapists can recommend or give to their patients. It is the ideal resource for couples undergoing schema therapy, and can also serve as an accessible self-help guide for those experiencing relationship difficulties. The authors offer a complete ST-based model for understanding complex personal problems, along with couple-specific adaptations of core ST interventions such as limited reparenting, imagery re-scripting and behavioral pattern breaking.
