Надотряд Acrothoracica представлен небольшими, раздельнополыми усоногими ракообразными, лишенными известкового домика и сильноизмененными сверлящим образом жизни. На основе полученных данных проведен детальный анализ эволюции и филогении Acrothoracica, реконструированы родственные связи с другими группами усоногих подкласса Cirripedia и класса Thecostraca, предложена новая система Acrothoracica, приводится определительная таблица надотряда с диагнозами всех известных видов. Большинство данных по морфологии как самих Acrothoracica, так и других ракообразных класса Thecostraca, получены впервые. Проведен анализ географического распространения и вертикального распределения группы. Обсуждается характер взаимоотношений между Acrothoracica и организмами-хозяевами.
