2013. aasta oktoobris sundis India piirivalvelaev endale alluma laeva Seaman Guard Ohio, mis kuulus piraatidevastast laevakaitseteenust pakkunud ettevottele AdvanFort. Laeva pardal oli 35 meeskonnaliiget ja laevakaitsjat, kellest 14 olid Eesti kodanikud. Moni paev hiljem sai Tamil Nadu osariigis alguse enam kui neli aastat kestnud kohtuprotsess, mille valtel hoiti laeva pardal viibinuid vangistuses kokku kaks aastat ja neli kuud. Ulejaanud aja peeti eri riikide kodanikest laevakaitsjaid Indias kinni. Koju paasesid mehed alles 2017. aasta detsembri alguses. Kaesolev raamat on esimene „laevakaitsjate saagast“ kirja pandud lugu, algusest lopuni. Uks laevakaitsjatest oli mees nimega Dmitri Pappel, kes oma erakordsel teekonnal paevikut pidas. See on eelkoige tema lugu.
